Sender Identification

The first step you can take to protect your identity and privacy on the Internet is to establish yourself as a legitimate Sender. You can then guarantee delivery of your email to other Affini members, and seek a similar level of Sender Identification from those who wish to contact you.

Spammers dare not show their true identities.

It's that simple.

Affini Points

Affini will send you 500 bonus points as a charter member of Affini.

When another Affini member who is not on your Approve List tries to contact you, he or she has to offer the amount that you Ask. You as Recipient may choose to collect the points or Approve the Sender and return the points, after you read the message.

Of course, it works the same way when you are the Sender. Your payment will be returned to your Affini account if the Recipient member does not collect it within 7 days.

If you send out far more mail than you receive, and do not build up a strong positive reputation by being Approved by other Affini members, you may have to purchase additional points in order to reach Affini members.

During the BETA period the Ask amount is 15 points. Later you will be able to set your Ask to better reflect the value of your time. Also, points will be redeemable for cash (transferred to your PayPal account).

Affini Butler

After you register, you can right away start using your protected Affini email address in public: username@affini.net. Affini ensures that you only receive the messages you want by forwarding identified messages to your existing email address. Affini will screen for those Senders who are on your Approve List or have a strong positive reputation on the Internet — or are willing to pay the fee you ask, to catch your attention.

Affini also works with your existing email addresses and mail browser — you do not need to change your public email address or install any new software to protect all of your email addresses — if you like, the Affini Butler can visit your existing mailbox.

How It Works

The Affini Butler service performs as the name suggests: it checks a member's POP3 or ISP-forwarded mail and removes messages from senders who are not pre-Approved by the member. A membership invitation is returned to the sender of each removed message to confirm the sender's identity and the authenticity of the email. Once successfully identified, the message is forwarded to the recipient along with the requisite payment set by the recipient. After review of the message, the recipient can either accept the payment or return the payment and Approve the sender for future communications.

Affini is not a webmail service. Identified messages are kept in a member's POP3 mailbox or forwarded to another email address. Unidentified messages are held for 7 days pending sender identification.
